Our Highland cow farm tours give you the chance to meet, photograph and learn about our iconic Highland cows and Beltex sheep in their natural farm environment.

Our farmer-led Highland cow tours are the perfect way to experience life on a traditional Scottish farm. You’ll travel in a purpose-built, wind and watertight trailer with padded seating – designed for comfort, no matter the weather.

Hands-on Coo Tour

This tour is all about going on safari and getting that fantastic hands-on highland cow experience.

Head out into the fields, in our safari trailer, along with other highland coo fans. There you will get a chance to groom some of our younger coos from the safety of our outdoor highland coo play-pen. Then, head out onto the hill to see the main herd being fed before returning to the farmyard for a cuppa and a trio of traybakes.

Insta Coo Tour

This family-friendly farm experience is all about our Highland cows! It gets you quickly out onto the hill among our beautiful Highland cattle in their natural environment.

You’ll have plenty of time to take photos and learn all about the fold from your experienced guides. This farm tour uses our weather-proof safari trailer. This experience must be booked in advance and numbers are limited to 24 people.

Cream Tea Coo Tour

During this in-depth farm tour you’ll meet our record breaking flock of Beltex sheep, before getting in among the Highland cows on the hill. There will be plenty of opportunity to take photos of the Highland cows and the sheep from the safety and comfort of the farm tour trailer. You’ll return to the farm for a sheep dog demonstration, and then enjoy a cream tea with your hosts.

Walking Tour

Walking Tour

A walking tour of our beautiful farm, accompanied by a knowledgeable guide. You’ll visit a small group of our Highland cows and be able to take photos of them. You’ll see the remains of a Bronze Age hut circle, learn about dry-stone dykes and finish with some traditional farmhouse baking. The route is 1.5 miles. To take part in this tour you should wear clothes and footwear appropriate to weather conditions and be able to walk over uneven grassland.

Covenanters Coo & Ewes

A small village called New Luce sprang up in the valley where two bridges were built to span the river.
A church was built in 1647 and its charismatic minister called Alexander Peden became a celebrity covenanter when he was ejected from our church in 1662.

To make sure you don’t miss out, please book your visit in advance. Our tours fill up quickly and we aren’t able to take walk-in visitors, so it’s best to secure your spot before you arrive!

Questions & Answers

Here are some quick fire questions and answers. For more, click here.

Yes, all well behaved dogs are welcome at our farm. However, for safety reasons, dogs cannot go on safari in the trailer or on the walking tour. Owners are very welcome to walk their dogs along our roadway before and after a tour.

Guide dogs are welcome in all cases except for our walking tour where the group walk towards untethered grazing cattle. Family pets are not allowed to travel in our safari trailers as they may alarm our Highland cattle when we get close to them.

Our tours are suitable for all ages, and we will tailor our chat to the ages of our guests. There is no charge for guests aged two years and under. The youngest person we’ve had on tour so far was 8 weeks old, and we’ve also had a guest who was 92 years young on tour – he had a great time!

Our trailer based tours are suitable for everyone. There are three wheelchair anchor points inside our large safari trailer which can be accessed by a purpose-built ramp at the farm. 

Yes, and at certain times of year you might even see a new-born Highland calf. Our Highland cows calve in March and April, so if you visit us in spring you’ll usually see some very cute little ones.
